Estas prácticas, con las que los penitentes buscan limpiar sus pecados experimentando el martirio de Jesucristo camino del Calvario


Filipinas.- Los creyentes católicos filipinos realizan cada año una representación de la crucifixión de Cristo, esto con motivo de la celebración de viernes Santo.

Los  hombres fueron crucificados con cuatro clavos de acero de 10 centímetros, se les atraviesan las manos y los pies.

Todo esto se realizó luego de recorrer descalzos alrededor de 50 kilómetros cargando una cruz de más de 25 kilos.

Estas prácticas, con las que los penitentes buscan limpiar sus pecados experimentando el martirio de Jesucristo camino del calvario, se llevan a cabo desde hace más de un siglo en Filipinas, según explica a Efe el monseñor Eugenio Reyes, máxima autoridad de la catedral de San Fernando.

La Iglesia católica filipina, que ostenta una fuerte influencia en la excolonia española, suele considerar impropios este tipo de comportamientos, aunque tampoco se opone con contundencia.

El prelado asegura que cada año recomienda a sus feligreses abstenerse de martirios innecesarios, aunque reconoce que “la tradición es muy fuerte” y respeta la voluntad de los que deciden seguir al pie de la letra el camino del mesías.
