Luis Felipe López-Calva officially began his role as Director of UNDP's Regional Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean (RBLAC) in September 2018.
He comes at a crucial moment for Latin America and the Caribbean. With the economic growth picking up and the addition of 90 million people to the growing middle class in just 10 years - now approximately 35 percent of the population - the region aims to maintain these gains and rethink traditional development strategies.

As Director of RBLAC, Luis Felipe will lead our work and teams in 25 country offices, covering 40 countries and territories in the region in their efforts to spearhead innovative ways to implement the Sustainable Development Goals and bring a wide range of partners together for the 2030 Agenda.
